Gary Bell is a professional nature and wildlife photographer specializing in marine and terrestrial images. He has been diving and taking pictures in the sea for more than 40 years and his works have been broadly published. He lives in Australia on the New South Wales Mid North Coast with his family.
Gary’s photographic journey began in 1974, which led to adventures all over Australia, the Pacific, and many locations around the world, working on assignment for National Geographic magazine and TV division, Australian Geographic, and the CSIRO Division of Fisheries. Additionally, he assisted photographer, David Doubilet, on more than 20 National Geographic magazine field assignments.
Gary’s photography awards include first place in the Australasia Underwater Photographer of the year competition in 1990, 1991, and 1992. He is the only person to have ever won this award for 3 consecutive years and today, often sits on the judging panel at various photography competitions.
In 2003, Gary launched Oceanwide Images Stock Image Agency, representing an elite group of nature and wildlife photographers from around the world and continues to manage the agency today with his wife, Meri. He is a regular supporter of numerous conservation organizations.
