Filomena Sá Pinto was born in 1959, in the interior of Angola.
At the age of 22 decided to live in Portugal, back to her family roots.
By her husbands influence discovers scuba diving in 1996.
The first time Filomena participated in an underwater photography competition was has "model" of a known photographer, and in this year, both achieved the title of National Champions.
Was after diving in countries like the Maldives, São Tomé e Principe, Cape Verde, Papua New Guinea, and at the Portuguese Islands of the Azores, that in the year of 2005 she started photographing underwater.
In the year of 2006 took part in an underwater contest, where she achieved the 3rd place.
In 2007 she placed 4th in the same competition, an in the following years:
2008 - 4th place;
2009 - 2 nd place;
2010 - 3 rd place;
2011 - 1 th place.
In this same year she also got the 2nd place in the National Underwater Photography Championship.
Her photos were often chosen as cover for books, magazines and for illustrations as well.
Filomena gave several workshops, presentations, and her photos can be seen at cruises ship cabins.
Recently, one of her photos made part of the announcement of the 30th anniversary of the signing of the United Nations Convention on the Law of The Sea.
