Marcel Hagendijkhas been diving since 1992, has logged 6000+ dives and still counting. He manages Maluku Divers resort, in Ambon, East Indonesia, where he can be found in the water on a daily base, always trying to get the shots.
A Dutch national, Marcel is also an experienced dive guide, instructor, wreck and tec diver, who has been involved in the dive industry since 1999. Other than East Indonesia, he has also worked and dived the Pacific and Indian oceans intensely on boats, throughdiveshopsand resorts. His passion for the underwater world is endless, and is fascinated with every aspect of it.
His specialty is macro photography. Being in one the world’s richest critter destinations gives him the rare opportunity to persist in getting the shot. His goal: To put the wonderful and weird underwater crittersin a different perspective; but he can be found with his wide angle or fisheye lenses on the reefs or under the piers regularly as well.
Although he first started with underwater videography, his interest in shooting still images was ignited after Wetpixelvisited Ambon and did a “night safari” dive extravaganza in Ambon.
He started to take his photography to the next level since February 2011, when he bought his first “decent” camera set-up. And has been snappng fanatically since.
His first contest entry won 3rd price in the Ocean Art 2011 novice category.
His works can be seen on Facebook, and on the website of Maluku Divers, the resort he is currently managing.
